Vera CPU
Vera CPU is NVIDIA's first custom-designed data center processor, purpose-built for agentic AI and reinforcement learning workloads rather than general-purpose computing. It features 88 NVIDIA-designed Olympus cores with 1.2 TB/s memory bandwidth — roughly 3x per-core bandwidth of competing x86 CPUs — and is Arm v9.2-A based.
Formally launched at GTC 2026 on March 16, Vera is the CPU half of NVIDIA's Vera Rubin platform. It handles the orchestration, tool-calling, sandbox environments, and reinforcement learning loops that scale alongside Rubin GPUs. Jensen Huang declared: "The CPU is no longer simply supporting the model; it's driving it."
Think of it as a purpose-built logistics hub for AI agents: the GPU runs the thinking, Vera runs everything else at speed.

Why is it emerging now?
NVIDIA formally launched Vera CPU at GTC 2026 (March 16), delivering first units to Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI, and Oracle Cloud in May 2026. With 1.5x sandbox performance vs x86 and a single-SKU strategy targeting billions in revenue, Vera marks NVIDIA's aggressive entry into the standalone CPU market — a direct threat to Intel and AMD's data center dominance.
