A verification loop is the generate-verify-fix cycle wrapped around an AI coding agent: the agent writes code, an automated layer exercises it in a running app or test suite, and any failure routes back for a fix before the agent moves on.
Datadog's March 9, 2026 post "Closing the Verification Loop" framed observability as the control layer for agent-built code; IronBee's July 7 benchmark then showed a verification loop lifting DeepSeek V4-Pro's Web-Bench score from 20.4 to 80.6, matching Claude Opus 4 at roughly one-seventh the per-run cost.
